How to cure Black Magic (Sihr) in Islam?
What is Sihr?
Hidden is the meaning of Sihr in literal terms. Islamically, Sihr means black magic. According to shariah, the definition of Sihr is what the magicians do to delude and confuse people so that the one who is watching thinks that it is real when, in fact, it is not. But everything that happens to people happens by the will of Allaah and by His prior decree. Jinn is always related to Sihr, and the Quran tells us that it is prohibited. Anyone who is involved in Sihr becomes a kafir( pronounced non-Muslim) as mentioned in the Quran. Quran helps to cure black magic because the words of Allah burn the Jinn. They feel tortured.
Why humanity and the Jinn are involving in Sihr?
Sihr involves three types of people.
The Magician: Has the greed of money, power, and fame. When a person learns Black magic, he/she would have people coming to him to do black magic on different people, this in return will give him fame, money, and power over the people. But remember, the person who does the spell is not more potent than the Jinn itself.
The Jinn: Usually, the main question arises as to why the Jinn does what it does? What do they get in return by destroying a human’s life?
Well, the answer dates back to prehistoric times. This was when Jinn (Iblis) was told to prostrate to Adam A.S. This means, quite literally, that Sihr comes from the inferiority complex of the Jinn. The Jinn felt that Allah SWT was overlooking him. So in return for their inferiority complex, the Jinns want to feel necessary and in power and so they in return ask the magicians to do the filthiest of things possible. Simply because they love humiliating the creation of Allah better than them, another reason the Jinn does this is that it wants to misguide humanity so that we drift away from our Lord Allah SWT.
Humanity: Some people want to destroy their fellow beings by doing Sihr on them out of jealousy or hatred. They merely just get the satisfaction of destroying their fellow beings life, but instead, they have killed themselves in the world and hereafter. (Don’t worry, In sha Allah we will tell you how to cure Black Magic in Islam)
How can we detect Sihr?
Some of the symptoms of Sihr include the following:
- Turning away and strongly reacting when hearing the adhan (call to prayer) or Quran
- When a Raqi is reading the Quran over the person, he is fainting, having seizures or falling.
- A lot of disturbing dreams, seeing snakes, mice, cows, scorpions are signs of Sihr. Click here to sleep better.
- Being alone, keeping away from people and behaving strangely
- When the Quran is being recited upon the person, the Jinn starts speaking.
- Inability to be intimate with one’s spouse.
- Frequent miscarriages for pregnant women.
- When a person suddenly changes behaviour without apparent reason.
- Having a complete loss of appetite for food.
- Thinking or imagining one has done something when in reality one has not
- Sudden obedience and/or love for a particular person
- Hearing sounds even when there are no people to call you
- Falling into depression, feeling anxious Click here to cure depression

What is possession?
Possession happens when the Jinn enters the human body, controlling the person.
There are three types of Jinn Possessions, and that is :
- Complete loss of consciousness
- Losing control but not consciousness ( like you are watching a dream )
- No loss of consciousness or control
Although you should know that not all types of Sihr involve possession.
How to cure Sihr (Black Magic)?
- Putting one’s trust in Allah with a sincere belief that He is the only cure for everything. Because Allah says in the Quran, “Indeed, Allah is competent over all things” Quran ( 2:20)
- Reading the Quran and known supplications seeking refuge for it has a significant effect in removing (the effects of) sihr. These should be recited over the person who has been affected by Sihr, or into a vessel.
- Al Aaraf – [7:106-122]
- Surah Younus – [10:79-82]
- Surah Ta-Ha- [20:65-69]
- Al-Ikhlaas – Surah 112
- Al-Falaq – Surah 113
- Al-Naas – Surah 114
- Al-Fatihah- Surah 01
- Ayat Al-Kursi – Surah Baqarah ( 2: 255)
- Last verses of Surah Baqarah
- Praying Tahajjud
- Not fearing the Jinns as they are not more powerful than Allah SWT
- Following the Sunnah of the Prophet
- Doing Zikr – the morning and the evening supplications
- Giving Adhan
- Using 7 seven green lote leaves, grind them up, and put them into the water, then recite into it the ayahs and surahs (verses and chapters) mentioned above, and the du’as. Then he can drink some and wash with the rest.
- Eating seven dates in the morning, before eating or drinking anything else. It is narrated from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) that he said: “Whoever eats seven ‘ajwa dates in the morning every day, no poison or magic will harm him during that day.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari.
- Trying to stay with Wudoo often
- Reading or listening to more Quran
He may also recite the above into water, some of which should be drunk by the person who has been affected by Sihr, and he should wash with the rest, one or more times as needed. This will remove the Sihr by Allah’s leave. – By Scholars, Shaykh’ Abd al-Rahman ibn Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) in Fath al-Majeed Sharh Kitab al-Tawheed, in (the chapter entitled) Bab Ma JA a fi’l-Nushrah, and by others.
Dua’a the Prophet taught us for Sihr are:
Making Dua’a to Allah SWT, in particular, the du’a which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was narrating himself is:
-
One may also recite the words used by Jibreel (peace be upon him) when he treated the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) with ruqyah:The above shown should be repeated three times, as should the recitation of “Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad” and al-Mu’awwadhatayn.

Do you need to go to a Raqi to cure black magic?
It is always better to go to a specialist because they may lack the knowledge and ability to do what is required. But be careful when selecting a Raqi.
How do you know if a Raqi is Legitimate?
If the raqi asks you to do the practices mentioned above, then he is likely a legitimate one. A fake Raqi will always ask you to do things out of context such as asking the mother’s name, asking the cloth, nails or hair of the possessed, etc.. They actually will even cure the person possessed but with more Sihr. Watch out for them!!
What is the Punishment of a Sahir?
Although Allah SWT has denounced a Sahir as a Non-Muslim, what if you know someone who practices Black magic, what should you be doing in this case?
The Sahir should be forced to undo what he has done if his identity is known. It should be said to him, “Either you undo what you have done, or you will be executed.” After he has undone it, he should still be executed by the authorities, because the sahir should be killed without being asked to repent, according to the correct view. This is what was done by ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and it was narrated that the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The punishment of the sahir is to strike him with the sword (i.e., execute him).” When Hafsah Umm al-Mu’ mineen (may Allah be pleased with her) found out that a slave woman of hers was dealing with Sihr, she killed her.
May Allah (SWT) make us of those who Allah is protecting from Sihr, and the shayateen (The devils). We ask Allah SWT to protect us, from the evil of those who blow on to knots, from the corruption of the Jinn and the Shayateen, and to protect our families and us, and our loved ones.
